GROW WITH US AT THE CLIMATE SMART VICTORY GARDEN, SHARON.

Needed: New & Experienced Gardeners – Volunteer
Project: Climate Smart Victory Garden (FBSC)
Location: 18648 Leslie St, Sharon / Newmarket, Ontario


Position: New Gardener – Volunteer

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated volunteers to help manage our garden for the 2025 season. There is no previous gardening experience required, as long as you are interested in learning we are interested in teaching you!

In this role you will:

  • Learn how to grow food for yourself and your family in a supported and friendly environment
  • Help to develop your people management skills, we are always looking for enthusiastic individuals to take on a leadership role (no pressure though if that’s not you!)
  • Improve communication skills as we navigate maintenance and watering schedules within the team

Volunteer Gardener Description:

Commitment:

  • 5 hours/ week, until October

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with garden maintenance
  • Assist with facilitation of garden workshops and events
  • Attend regular garden team virtual meetings

Personal Suitability:

  • A strong team player
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Physically able to lift ~30lbs and use garden tools
  • Takes initiative and demonstrates integrity
  • Knowledge of plants/ gardening considered an asset

Job Requirements:

Anyone with an interest in learning how to garden and wants to be involved in Climate Smart food production.

Position: Experienced Gardener (Volunteer)

We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated volunteers to help support new gardeners and manage our garden for the 2025 season.

  • Support new gardeners in their learning of growing food, in person and virtually
  • Help to develop your people management skills, we are always looking for enthusiastic individuals to take on a leadership role (no pressure though if that’s not you!)
  • Improve communication skills as we navigate maintenance and watering schedules within the team

Volunteer Gardener Description:

  • 5 hours/ week, until October, ideally at times when new gardeners are at the garden

Responsibilities:

  • Support new gardeners with common gardening issues and obstacles
  • Assist with garden maintenance
  • Attend regular garden team virtual meetings (x1 per week)
  • Assist with facilitation of garden workshops and events (optional)

Personal Suitability:

  • A strong team player
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of plants/ gardening
  • Physically able to lift ~30lbs and use garden tools
  • Takes initiative and demonstrates integrity

Job Requirements:
