Are you between the ages of 18 and 23 and passionate about making a difference in your community? Do you want to help beat plastic pollution but aren’t sure where to start?

Turning the Tides: Emerging Leaders Against Plastic Pollution is designed to help you build the skills and network you need to drive positive change in your community!

Learn about local plastic pollution issues, connect with industry leaders, attend exciting field trips to see solutions in action, and build professional skills while bringing your own project to life!

By participating in the initiative, you will develop essential skills to help you excel and prepare for future career growth, while building a personal and professional network that can open doors for future collaborative opportunities, employment and more!

Your project idea could be chosen to receive up to $5,000 to support implementation in your community!

Participation is free and no previous experience is required.


What To Expect

From October to November the program will offer interactive sessions, available both virtually and in-person. By attending the sessions, you will:

  • Learn about local plastic pollution issues and potential impacts on human health and the environment
  • Observe innovative solutions firsthand by visiting sites heading up efforts to reduce plastic pollution.
  • Explore the process of creating your own project.
  • Collaborate with industry leaders and professionals and gain valuable insights about careers in the environmental field.

Eligibility

  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 23
  • Everyone is welcome to participate. Sessions will take place both online and in-person in Hamilton.
