Youth Water and Climate Resilience Program

Location: Hybrid – some virtual meetings and independent research, combined with 2 in-person gatherings. Candidates can attend from anywhere in Canada.

Attention Young Water Change-Makers!

Are you ready to make a real impact in your community while tackling urgent climate and water challenges of today?

Youth for Resilient Communities (Y4RC) is seeking applications from young water and climate change makers 18-30 years old.

Y4RC invites you to join together with youth from across the country to learn how to create climate-adaptation, mitigation or resiliency approaches for your community. National in design, Y4RC’s immersive experiences will build your skills, insights and networks across Canada’s climate and water challenges.

What is the program about?

  • Capacity building & extensive climate/water training
  • Community engagement, coaching & mentorship
  • Learning from Indigenous Knowledge Keepers & experienced professionals
  • Peer-to-peer learning
  • TWO in-person gatherings in TWO Canadian locations

  • Extreme Water Events –Flooding and Droughts
  • Water Quality & Drinking Water
  • Learning from the Land: Indigenous Practice & Knowledge
  • Stormwater Management & Nature Based Solutions
  • Extreme Weather Events & Community Health
  • Source Water & Point Source Solutions

Who Should Apply?

  • Are you an Indigenous or non-Indigenous youth ages 18-30?
  • Are you passionate about making an impact in your community?
  • Are you seeking ways to build skills, networks and advance your career in the water and climate sector?

Who Is Eligible?

  • Participants must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or have been granted refugee status in Canada
  • Must be at least 18 years of age upon starting participation in the program and no older than 30 years of age at the time of application
  • vailable for the duration of the program, and able to commit to the required hours

About Waterlution

Waterlution – a federally registered Canadian non-profit – has successfully established itself as an internationally recognized water-focused organization offering distinctive capacity building, leadership and facilitation training to spark and mentor innovators and aspiring entrepreneurs in the water and climate change space. While engaging communities through place-based workshops and activities that together evolve our collective relationship to, understanding of, and innovative responses toward, solving complex water challenges, Waterlution intentionally works with underrepresented peoples, particularly women and Indigenous peoples.
