Hiring: Salmon Recovery Technician
Employer: Fort Folly Habitat Recovery
Location: Seeking candidates within commuting distance of our headquarters in Amlamgog (Fort Folly) First Nation, near Sackville & Moncton, New Brunswick

Fort Folly Habitat Recovery is seeking motivated candidates for our Salmon Recovery Technician position. The position is full-time (40 hours/week) and based out of our headquarters in Amlamgog First Nation. The technician will report to salmon recovery managers and work closely with fellow technicians to carry out field actions related to our salmon recovery program. Fieldwork is conducted in and around the Petitcodiac watershed, with some occasional travel required.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working in and around water as well as working in a variety of weather conditions. The technician will assist with field activities including juvenile salmon monitoring and collections, electrofishing, snorkel surveys, and biological data collection. Data entry, reporting writing, and proposal writing duties will be assigned as required. Indigenous candidates will be prioritized.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Positive attitude and willingness to get your hands dirty
  • Comfortable working in and around water
  • Ability to work under a range of field conditions
  • Capable of lifting 20 kg
  • Flexible availability (long days, weekend work, and travel occasionally required)

Assets:

  • Diploma or degree in Biology, Fish and Wildlife, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
  • Experience operating trucks & ATVs
  • Experience using ArcGIS, MS Word, MS Excel, writing reports, entering field data
  • Freshwater fish identification skills

Start Date: April 1, 2025 (negotiable)
End Date: March 31, 2026 (with possibility of extension)
