Position Description

Do you want to work with a team of exceptionally talented and bright people to make a real difference in the world?

British Columbia Conservation Foundation’s vision is for thriving fish and wildlife populations in British Columbia. Our mission supports fish and wildlife through education, collaboration and habitat conservation. The Foundation is a mission-driven, registered non-profit and charity. We are one of the most active environmental non-profits in the province and were established in 1969.

BC Conservation Foundation is seeking an energetic, organized, and adaptable person to fill the Program Manager role for the Coastal Douglas-fir Conservation Partnership (CDFCP) to take several multi-stakeholder projects to completion and to support the Partnership in defining their strategic direction for the next five years.

The Program Manager oversees contractors and partners working on components of several large, multi-faceted projects that are completing in the 2025-26 fiscal year, and also acts as the primary support for implementing action items from the Partnership’s strategic plan. Focus areas for the Program Manager will include finalizing the development of a Biodiversity Atlas for Southwest BC and launching its use; using the outputs of existing focal studies to establish a group carbon offset project; investigating and supporting the implementation of conservation finance tools; taking a BC Seedbank for Rare and Culturally Significant Species from idea to reality; and supporting an existing network of local, provincial and federal governments, First Nations, ENGOs, and academics that are working with the CDFCP to conserve biodiversity and protect sensitive species and ecosystems in Southwest BC.

The Program Manager role is varied and provides the opportunity to work with inspiring, knowledgeable people and to develop and apply a broad range of approaches to protect the natural environment.

  • Provide administrative support to the Steering Committee and Working Groups.
  • Manage the delivery of actions specified under existing agreements with Environment and Climate Change Canada under the Priority Places and Nature Smart Climate Solutions grants (e.g. group carbon project; Local Conservation Funds; BC Seedbank etc..).
  • Effectively track project and program progress, manage contracts and contract deliverables, coordinate with project partners and the Steering Committee, and complete project reporting for all funding sources.
  • Identify and apply for funding to support the CDFCP Conservation Strategy and maintain the role of the CDFCP Program Manager.
  • Work with the Steering Committee and CDFCP members to update the CDFCP Conservation Strategy.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with current and future members of the CDFCP.
  • Lead on the development of communications by the Partnership.
  • Support other organisations and First Nations in the delivery of projects that align with objectives within the CDFCP Conservation Strategy.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement multistakeholder projects (project management).
  • Significant fundraising and grant proposal writing experience.
  • Evidence of strong facilitation, collaboration and oral communication skills.
  • Experience preparing communication and promotional materials.

Preferred Qualifications
