Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures is responsible for leading the policy development and program delivery that fosters responsible resource development for the benefit of all Manitobans. This will be achieved by working in partnership with Indigenous and northern communities, industry, and non-government organizations to develop planning frameworks and science-based management plans that ensure the sustainable use of Manitoba's fish, forests and wildlife. The Wildlife Branch ensures sustainable wildlife populations through innovative and science-based management and habitat programs.

Duties:
Under the general supervision of the Section Manager, this position is responsible for leading a unit that plans, develops, administers, and evaluates the provincial allocated hunting and trapping programs. This includes the allocation of hunting licences to Resource Tourism Operators, commercial trapping licences, and big game hunting licences awarded through the big game draw system. The incumbent will be the branch lead on departmental, provincial committees or working groups related to licence allocations and is responsible for maintaining effective relationships with a variety of government and non-government agencies and stakeholders. The incumbent will assist in the development and delivery of the hunter questionnaire program, wildlife population research and management programs, and the hunting and trapping seasons and regulations change process. The incumbent also participates as a key member in development of policy and priorities for the section and implementation of budget and staffing strategies to ensure delivery of section objectives. This position also provides strategic professional leadership and advice to government on hunting and trapping allocation strategies and issues.
