Hiring: Student/Beginner Horticultural Garden Care Labourer

BloomTOwn has been working with some of the same clients for over 20 years and continues to build lasting and meanigful relationships with its clientelle. We are conscientious gardeners and aim for a natural, native, and sustainable approach to garden design & care.

Job Summary

The Horticultural Garden Care Labourer will perform tasks involving installing plant material, watering plants, weeding, pruning, cleaning up debris and loading/unloading trucks on site.

Job Tasks

• Clean and prepare horticultural maintenance sites to eliminate possible hazards.
• Receive training on the job site and learn the BloomTOwn way of gardening.
• Complete tasks safely and in a manner to follow the instructions of the crew leader.
• Adjust to the dynamic team environment and collaborate with every member of the crew.
• Load and unload gardening tools and distribute/return them to the appropriate locations according to plan.
• Handle, install, fertilize, and water plant material.
• Perfom weeding, pruning, transplanting, and debris cleanup as instructed onsite.
• Drive to various jobsites if applicable

On-the-job training and direction will be provided for all tasks.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• G2 driver’s license prefered but not required
• Landscape experience is an asset but not required
• Currently pursuing trade school, Horticultural certificate, or other post secondary education is an asset but not required

Working Conditions

This is a full-time, seasonal position. Employees will be working outdoors in all types of weather. The workday starts between 8am - 9am. Hours will range from 40 to 50 per week, Monday to Friday and some Saturdays. The company works to provide long weekends off for all employees.

This position is physical in nature and requires the applicant to be able to lift weights of up to 50lbs and includes frequent repetitive tasks.

Salary Range:

Varies from $20 - $26.20 depending on skill set and experience.
