The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enterprising individual or team to lead and own our wood flooring business. We focus on supplying the upmarket architectural and interior design community, as well as the green building segment.

Depending on your situation, this could mean an outright purchase or take on majority ownership. We are willing to train, mentor, and guide the new owner(s) as needed.

About the Business:

  • We are a stable/established importer, wholesaler/retailer, that has been in business since 2006. Where 20% of new businesses close in the first year and 50% are bankrupt within the first 5 years we have thrived for the past 18 yrs.
  • We have a steady profit record over the last decade, averaging around $1.5M in gross revenue annually and generating $300,000 in profit each year (including two owners’ salaries, benefits, bonuses, and net profit).
  • Our clients include architects, interior designers, and builders in Toronto, cottage country, and across Ontario.
  • We support both local and sustainable wood mills as well as global manufacturers, providing price advantages and exclusivity in the market.
  • In addition to our green products, we run conservation programs to educate Ontarians about preserving old growth forest ecosystems and financially support sustainable forestry work through donations.

What’s Included:

  • Training: Three months of post-sale training for free. Further training can be provided on a consulting basis (compensation TBD).
  • Sales Staff: Existing staff of two (excluding owners).
  • Clientele: Loyal design and building trades who purchase regularly.
  • CRM Database: Over 10,000 building and design firms across the GTA, Ontario, and Canada.
  • Exclusive Brands: Two higher-end brands for the mass market and one green brand.
  • Websites: 3.
  • Sample Kits: Two different branded sets in mass volume for trades and consumers.
  • Branded Literature: Brochures, specification sheets, selling sheets, email marketing templates.
  • Mass Emailing System: Ready-to-use.
  • Tradeshow Booth: Complete with walls, show boards, and tools for construction.
  • Design Showroom: Located in a busy design district of Toronto with reasonable rent.
  • Office: Fully equipped with desks, chairs, computers, printers, etc.
  • Software: Customer Relation Management (CRM), Administrative, Billing, and Inventory.
  • Storage Racking: Extensive system for trade and consumer samples.
  • Inventory: Approx. 80,000 sqft of wide-plank engineered wood flooring.
  • Manufacturing: Two to three current factories making private-labelled lines, as well as local manufacturers and mills. Knowledge of additional factory options
  • Manufacturing Knowledge Base: Designing, importing, and selling private-labelled lines of engineered hardwood flooring.
  • Logistics Accounts: Global and local for shipping and warehousing of products.
  • Environmental Certification: Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) certification for supplying responsibly managed wood products.

We are open to negotiation as how this transfer of ownership can happen. This could be a buy out or deposit with “work to own”.  We are mostly interested in giving a chance to people who want to take control of their financial futures with creative and passionate work, grow our business and serve its loyal clients who love what we do and continue the legacy of good work we have done with sustainable wood.

About You:

This opportunity is perfect for someone interested in owning a business with the added advantage of an established and profitable enterprise. Ideal candidates will have a passion for making a difference in the world and improving themselves. Experience in the wood industry and business-to-business sales are assets but not necessary. You should be professional, self-managed, driven, and willing to get involved in all aspects of the business from selling to logistics to marketing.
