Independent contractor

Position: Supply Chain Project Manager
Organization: FoodBridge
Workplace: Hybrid: Ontario or Quebec, with willingness to travel frequently to meet with partners (primarily Ontario) and team (Montreal office).

Do you have a passion for food, agriculture and the environment, a thirst for learning, and a desire to contribute to building a more sustainable world? FoodBridge works to accelerate the transition to regenerative and diversified agriculture by building supply chain collaborations. We are a small, dynamic team and are looking for someone with experience and connections in the Ontario agri-food industry to join us.

The organization and the role

FoodBridge works with stakeholders in the agricultural, food, financial and government sectors to support farmers in adopting sustainable practices. Through action research, convening and communication, FoodBridge contributes to building resilient food and agricultural systems that ensure healthy soils, clean water, abundant biodiversity, a stable climate and sustainable livelihoods for all.

Farmers are increasingly interested in moving to more regenerative agriculture, but often need technical and commercial support to diversify their rotations and adopt new practices. To reach a turning point, collaborations must be developed upstream with agricultural communities and downstream with agri-food markets.

We are looking for a Supply Chain Project Manager for a 6-month contract, minimum 20 hours per week.

  • In partnership with FoodBridge’s Director and other team members, develop and maintain strong relationships with food and beverage companies, particularly in Ontario, to understand their sourcing practices and sustainability goals;

  • Contribute to the organization of events for agri-food businesses and other partners to collaborate in the advancement of regenerative and sustainable agricultural and food systems;
  • Undertake scans and grounded research for specific initiatives such as farm financing and measurement, reporting and verification projects;
  • Contribute to the organization's communication tools (newsletter, blogs, letters, funding requests) and to team knowledge building.

Skills sought

  • Experience working in or with the food industry, with strong understanding and diverse connections in the Ontario agri-food environment;
  • Training in management, commerce, finance, economics, environment, food, agriculture and/or a related field;
  • Ideally, experience with quantifying environmental impacts (GHG, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture) and knowledge of measurement, reporting and verifications practices and tools;
