Position: Summer Nature Camp Staff
Organization: Frontenac Arch Biosphere Network

The Frontenac Arch Biosphere Network (FABN) is a not-for-profit organization that administers the Frontenac Arch UNESCO Biosphere designation. Our mission is to nurture healthy landscapes and vibrant communities by delivering programs, cultivating networks, and connecting people with nature. Our Nature Camps champion our mission by creating a supportive camp environment where campers follow their curiosities into the woods, wetlands, waterways of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Region.

FABN operates Summer Nature Camps for children aged 5 to 13 at four locations within the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Region:

We're hiring the following Summer Nature Camp Staff positions:

FAB Nature Camp employs staff who have experience working with children and who are passionate about nature and conservation. The Environmental Educators are responsible for working with the Senior Environmental Educators and Camp Manager, to implement the FAB Summer Camp Program at one of our four locations. The Camp Administrator is responsible for assisting the Camp Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the four FAB Nature Camp sites.

The successful candidates will deliver engaging and safe outdoor educational and recreational activities for campers at our FAB Summer Nature Camp. Our Camp Staff are responsible for ensuring camp is fun and engaging while upholding the policies and procedures of the FAB Nature Camps and the FABN.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in one week of training prior to the start of camp
  • Demonstrate leadership and assist with meeting campers’ needs
  • Facilitate and lead nature themed programming and activities
  • Provide a safe, fun experience for all campers - on land and on water
  • Ensure that the site is clean, organized, and litter free
  • Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp
  • Willingness to be in the water during each swim session, with your designated group of campers
  • Ability and willingness to work at any or all four camp locations, if needed
  • Complete the full length of the 10 week contract

Qualifications – Required

  • Interest in working with children and in the outdoors
  • Up-to-date Standard CPR-C and AED First Aid certified
  • A clean Police Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector Screen (Valid within the last 6 months)
  • Willingness to work Monday-Friday, rain or shine
  • Personal means of transportation to and from camp
  • Able to walk 5 kilometers and lift 50 pounds

Qualifications – Assets

  • Outdoor enthusiast, curiosity about nature and/or interest in or skills in survival skills or bushcraft
  • National Lifeguard Certification NLS - priority will be given to applicants with this certification
