About us:

Camp Amy Molson (C.A.M.) is a summer camp with an 80-year history of providing outdoor experiences and life skills to at-risk populations from Montreal. Located in the beautiful foothills of the lower Laurentians, on traditional Kanien’keha and Anishinaabe territory, between Ottawa and Montreal, C.A.M, is committed to providing some of the most affordable youth and family programming in the province. Our main activity is a summer camp for over 150 children at a time (ages 5-13), focusing on fun, self-esteem building as well as significant time in nature and away from the city. Other C.A.M. programming includes Farm and Wilderness Camp for 12-17 year olds, family getaway weekends for inner-city community centres, harvest events for families and the public, and outdoor retreats for a variety of groups.

Young Roots Farm (Y.R.F.) is a community farm project at C.A.M. For over 10 years, its mandate has been to spread the joys of growing and cooking fruit & vegetable, caring for animals, and working in balance with our environment. With an outdoor kitchen, micro-scale livestock rotation, and a third of an acre of forest-garden under our care, Young Roots Farm promotes direct contact with the soil, sweat, cultural heritages, and the ecological cycles that we depend on for food. Throughout the growing season, we engage in a large variety of farm activities, such as cooking lessons, natural fiber arts, woodworking, relationships with animal kin, exploration of new flavours, and so much more. We combine the excitement of hundreds of youth, organic growing methods, and a unique farm landscape that has been designed for discovery and engagement to nurture a direct connection between people, their food and the land.

In the Spring, we generally work and live at the farm in Grenville-sur-la-rouge from Monday to Friday (transport provided to and from Montreal for the weekend). In the Summer, our stays at the farm line up with Camp Amy Molson’s overnight summer camp sessions. You would have access to all 180 acres of Camp Amy Molson land and water as well as Young Roots Farm to cultivate the land, participate in wild foraging and practice many other land-based skills.
