Regenerative farm / Market garden

Position: Farm Hand / Crew Member
Farm: Island View Farm
Location: Saanichton, Greater Victoria BC

Job Summary

Island View Farm is hiring a Farm Crew Member for the 2025 season! We're a one-acre regenerative market garden in Central Saanich, growing vegetables, cut flowers, and medicinal herbs with a focus on sustainability, community, and good vibes. We’re part of a growing agrotourism destination that includes the Island View Mini Golf course, a new cider orchard in development, and exciting plans for public events and educational programming.

This role is ideal for someone who loves working outdoors, getting their hands in the soil, and being part of something that’s still growing (literally and figuratively). You’ll help with everything from planting and harvesting to farm upkeep and occasional event support.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with all areas of crop production: bed prep, seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, and post-harvest handling
  • Irrigate and care for crops to ensure healthy growth
  • Help maintain farm infrastructure and equipment
  • Use hand tools and small-scale equipment (training provided)
  • Support occasional farm events, workshops, and community gatherings
  • Keep workspaces tidy, safe, and running smoothly
  • Work outside in all weather and lift 40–50 lbs as needed

Who You Are

  • Reliable, adaptable, and excited about growing food in a thoughtful way
  • Able to work outdoors for extended periods and do physically demanding tasks
  • Comfortable using hand tools and open to learning small machinery (BCS, etc.)
  • Passionate about sustainability, community, and regenerative farming (experience in a regenerative setting is a plus but not required)
  • Have a valid Class 5 or N driver’s license and reliable transportation to the farm (public transit is fine if it gets you here reliably and on time)
  • Comfortable with flexible scheduling and open communication—work hours will be discussed and adjusted regularly based on farm needs and your availability

Job Details

  • Seasonal, part-time position: May to August 2025
  • Up to 30 hours/week
  • $18.50/hour
  • Flexible schedule, some weekend/evening work for events
  • Perks include fresh produce, flowers, and free mini golf
