Position: Head of Facilities
Organization: Hakai Institute/ Tula Foundation
Location: Remote Site — Fly in / Fly out from Campbell River, BC for 2-3 week shifts. Staying in a remote camp on Calvert Island, BC with accommodations, food and wifi provided.
About the Tula Foundation
The Tula Foundation is an independent charitable foundation rooted in British Columbia with global interests and outreach. We have used our facilities and resources to create a vast network of collaborators from academia, government agencies, and First Nations. Our collective efforts have catalyzed an enormous quantity of science, education, and stewardship. Our divisions include:
To facilitate all of these endeavors, we need the concerted effort of the team that supports it all. More than anything else, it is the quality of that team that supports our work, but crucially, it also supports our partnerships with other organizations and distinguishes us as a cut above.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for highly dedicated individuals, people who embrace our scientific and service mission; people who don't see their work in isolation and can see the bigger picture – those who want to be a key member of a big team that is doing great work collectively. We’re looking for people not satisfied with one monotonous role – people who are willing to pitch in anywhere and who want to learn all the things.
In this position, you would be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of our Calvert Island facility's buildings and grounds. As a small organization in a remote area, our resources are limited, the ideal candidate would be able to step in to meet whatever needs arise. On your average day this could involve troubleshooting outboard motors, fixing a leaking faucet or cleaning gutters. You must possess a strong attention to detail and time management skill to thrive in this dynamic, fast-paced environment. We provide company paid flights to and from Campbell River, BC as well as food, accommodations and wifi.
