Recycling Alternative is one of Vancouver’s original recycling companies providing best practices materials collection, recovery and waste reduction services and was founded on exceptional, responsive and best practices customer service.

We are excited to announce we have been awarded the 2026 Recycle BC Central Vancouver Multi-residential collection service contract. Our growth will focus on new clients within the high rise residential market and the continued development of our existing commercial client business. Over the years Recycling Alternative’s group of companies has gained a proven reputation for leadership in sustainable waste management systems and innovation and this is reflected in our continued growth..

Our ideal Operations Manager will bring strong leadership, initiative and vision to our team and operation, as we continue to expand our logistics and production systems. Key strategic focus areas include investing in our fleet electrification, service delivery excellence, and supporting our clients’ efforts to realize best recovery of their waste and recoverable materials.

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading & managing our team of warehouse operations, fleet and equipment, logistics and routing management, materials flow, along with supporting the Accounting and Human Resources department with duties related to the operation.

Our warehouse operation is currently developing further systems to process materials by introducing the latest industry equipment and materials recovery innovations, with the goal of developing circular recovery models.

This position requires a high level of attention to detail, administration, KPI reporting, team leadership and performance management. Creating a team working culture of professionalism, performance and safety are paramount to a successful and efficient operation. Another key aspect of the Operations Manager position entails project management of infrastructure projects. Experience working with Sigma Six, Lean or similar approach and methodology will be valuable assets.

Job requirements include:

  • Minimum 3+ years of proven operations management
  • HR experience in hiring and onboarding new employees, scheduling shifts, time and attendance management, performance management and discipline
  • Familiar with business processes
  • Strong administration and reporting skills (reports to the company owners)
  • Adherence to and monitoring of operational metrics, SOP’s and KPI’s
  • Ability to create budgets and analyze cost-saving measures; accounting skills
  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment, control systems is an asset in further developing our production systems
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Excel and other apps, software & technology
  • Experience with routing or logistics operational software an asset
  • Project management skills such as Sigma 6, Lean or other an asset
  • OHS and WHMIS qualifications an asset
