Hiring: Treeplanters – Summer 2025

Haveman Brothers is a family owned forestry services company in Northern Ontario. Our employees work outdoors in all weather in some of Ontario’s most beautiful and rugged landscapes. We are seeking individuals to join our team for the upcoming 2025 treeplanting season. We will be planting seedlings in areas that have been logged to regenerate trees for future generations and ensure a renewable cycle. Haveman Brothers will offer paid training to new employees to our quality standards and best practices.

Our treeplanter positions are student friendly, with most contracts running from the start of May until late June or early July. The majority of our treeplanting employees are university or college students, however Haveman Brothers hires applicants from all walks of life. This position requires comfort working outdoors in all conditions, ability to deal with extreme weather and biting insects, great work ethic, self-motivation and the ability to work on a team.

  • Lodging is in tents and meals are provided.
  • Laundry is done at a laundromat, and transportation is provided.
  • Must be willing to get your own transportation to our locations across northern Ontario (bus station and airport pickups are accepted), or carpool with other employees if it can be arranged.
  • Transportation to and from the work site is provided.
  • Contract work running from approximately the start of May to mid-July. Must be flexible with start and end dates.
  • Work days are 7am until approximately 6pm, 5 days per week with 2 day weekends.
  • This job is piece work, meaning employees are paid based on the number of trees they plant. Pay schedule is bi-weekly, 13 cents per tree and up.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to carry up to 50lbs.
  • Must be physically adept and able to move across uneven, rugged terrain.
  • Must be comfortable with working alone and dealing with wildlife encounters (bears, caribou, foxes). Safety measures, radio communication and training are in place.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.
  • Must have the ability to handle excessive flying insects (black flies, horse flies, mosquitos, deer flies) and wasp/bee encounters.
