Job Title: Manager of Operations

Duration:
Permanent, full-time (4 day/32-hour work week)

Location: This position is primarily remote, with 1-2 days per month working in-person in an office in downtown Peterborough, Ontario (travel expenses covered within reason);

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Manager of Operations to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and organized operation of various systems, tracking and managing donor communications, supporting our conservation initiatives, and providing an organized backbone to a team of experienced conservation professionals. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of conservation, experience with operations management, and experience working in a non-profit or charitable setting. The key candidate is a motivated self-starter, enthusiastic about systems and organization, and takes a thorough and detail-oriented approach to their work. We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic team member who has a ‘go-getter’ attitude and a demonstrated track record of creative problem-solving and tackling challenging tasks head-on, and is excited to work on a small but fast-paced team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide innovative solutions and set up systems for tracking, coordinating, and streamlining various aspects of the business to maximize efficiency to ensure a sharply maintained organizational focus on conservation outcomes;
  • Track, enter and manage donor information and communications, including tracking and managing donations;
  • Build and maintain a user-friendly system for project and land management, while supporting the team in the identification of new conservation and partnership opportunities;
  • Manage leases and contracts;
  • Support management of budget and finances;
  • Act as primary contact and coordinator for external services including accountants, insurance, benefits, payroll, marketing, etc.
  • Assist in finalizing straightforward and user-friendly policies (related to conservation planning, stewardship, business operations etc.);
  • Write and/or support the writing of grant applications, proposals, reports to donors, and similar fundraising materials;
  • Support the team in creating digital communications, website management, and content creation/management of social media platforms;
  • Organize logistics of donor events, property tours, board meetings, and partner meetings;
  • Create standard presentation materials and support development of presentations for various meetings, events and speaking engagements; and
  • Other duties as assigned

Ideal Qualifications (though transferable skills are encouraged):

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently;
  • Solid understanding of the conservation sector;
  • Relevant work experience in non-profit or charitable organizations in Canada preferred;
  • Experience with managing and planning communications related to donor tracking;
  • Experience with systems for managing one or more of: donors, land, projects, finances;
  • Experience with website and/or social media management;
  • Experience with fundraising or grant applications;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products; and
  • A demonstrated track record of creative problem-solving, a ‘go-getter’ attitude, friendly and enthusiastic tackling of challenging tasks, and working in a fast-paced environment would be key assets

  • Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000
