We’re on a mission to inspire environmental action through education. Our interdisciplinary, action-oriented programs equip learners with the skills they need to take environmental action at home, school and in the community.

About the Role:
The Coordinator, Development, will play a pivotal role in building and supporting Elements’ fund development and donor engagement efforts. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop new fundraising initiatives from the ground up, alongside existing grant management activities. The role will involve strategizing, planning, and implementing comprehensive fundraising programs to help advance our mission. This role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to build a legacy, develop significant skills and grow their career within a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fund Development Strategy & Implementation:
    • Collaborate with leadership to set fundraising goals and develop fundraising strategies to meet them.
    • Implement new fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
    • Create fundraising materials and compelling donor communications to promote giving opportunities.
    • Monitor progress towards goals and adjust strategies as needed.
    • Prepare reports on fundraising activities and outcomes.
  • Donor Relations and Stewardship:
    • Build and maintain relationships with donors.
    • Implement donor cultivation, retention, and recognition activities.
    • Manage donor records, ensuring accuracy of information and interactions.
  • Grant Management:
    • Identify, prepare, submit, report on and manage grant opportunities.
    • Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and ensure timely submissions.
  • Event Planning and Coordination:
    • Plan and coordinate fundraising events.
    • Support third party fundraising events and initiatives.
    • Evaluate the success of events and implement improvements.

What we are looking for a candidate with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience in a fund development role or a related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute new fundraising initiatives.
  • Ability to identify high ROI opportunities and implement them.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Canva.
  • Strong understanding of the funding landscape in Alberta and BC.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Knowledge of environmental topics is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
  • Ability to attend in person events and meetings

Salary & Benefits:

  • Dependent on hours and experience, hourly equivalent: $29-32
  • Flexible work environment outside of core hours
  • 2 weeks paid vacation + paid winter break, 5 paid sick days, 11 statutory holidays
