Background: The Coquitlam River Watershed Society (CRWR) is a multi-stakeholder body whose mission is to preserve and enhance the health of the Coquitlam River Watershed through collaboration, education and advisory action. Website: coquitlamriverwatershed.ca

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Graphic Designer to create content for print, website and social media channels. With the guidance of the Coordinator and the Communications Coordinator, the Graphic Designer will create content to educate the public on the work of the Coquitlam River Watershed Society, including updates to the implementation of our Lower Coquitlam River Watershed Plan, Low Impact Development in the Watershed, site descriptions on our digital Watershed Atlas, Responsible Recreation in the Watershed, new Bookmarks and handouts for our Outreach Display. This work will involve the production of digital content including photographs, artwork and infographics, publication layout and draft text. As well, the Graphic Designer will attend and document community events.

Qualifications include:

  • Experience creating digital artwork
  • Adept at using graphic software such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar
  • Experience creating visually appealing and well organized layouts
  • Knowledge and experience creating print-ready files
  • Experience in science communication, presentation of complex information in a format that is factually correct and easily comprehensible.
  • Collaborative team player
  • Proactive ability to establish productive working relationships through timely, clear and courteous communication.

Terms: Part-time 30 hours/weeks, fixed-term contract for 9 weeks. Applicants must be: between 16-30 years of age; legally entitled to work in Canada; Canadian citizens, permanent residents or have refugee status. Be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment. Work hours will need to be flexible to include occasional weekends to capture key organization public outreach events or project activities. The participant will be expected to work from home using their own computer and graphic software. Work will also be conducted throughout the Coquitlam River Watershed to participate in outreach events, meet with subject experts, and gather photographs or other reference material. The incumbent must have a means to travel to various locations.
