Position: Fundraising Manager
Organization: PEDAL/Our Community Bikes
Location: This position is primarily remote with in-person meetings and events. Living in commute distance of Vancouver is required.

Part time 2 year contract, 15-20 hours/week

Job Summary:

The Fundraising Manager will play a crucial role in supporting Our Community Bikes facility relocation by developing and implementing effective fundraising strategies to raise $400,000 by September 2026. This position involves building relationships with corporate and individual donors, managing fundraising initiatives, and coordinating events to secure financial support for our move. Our Community Bikes has a mission to enable, educate and empower members of the community to make cycling a part of their daily lives. The position will be remote with the exception of in person meetings and events. Some evening and weekend work will be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Execute Fundraising Strategies:
    • Collaborate with the executive director and board to create comprehensive fundraising plans.
    • Identify and pursue diverse fundraising opportunities, including individual donations, corporate sponsorships, grants, and events.
  • Communication:
    • Develop marketing materials for fundraising campaign.
    • Utilize various communication channels, especially emails, but also including social media and newsletters, to promote fundraising initiatives.
  • Donor Relations:
    • Cultivate relationships with existing donors and develop strategies to expand the donor base.
    • Communicate with donors regularly, providing updates on the organization's activities and expressing gratitude for their support.
  • Fundraising Events:
    • Plan, organize, and execute fundraising events, such as bike repair nights, charity rides, or online campaigns.
  • Grant Writing:
    • Research and then write for potential grant opportunities that align with the organization's goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with bicycles and the potential corporate donor network in the trade
  • Proven experience in fundraising, donor relations, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in a small non-profit environment.
  • Familiarity with Our Community Bikes
  • Familiarity or history of involvement with organizations that serve marginalized communities

Our Community Bikes (started in 1993 as a program of PEDAL Society) is a social enterprise non-profit bike shop that recycles and refurbishes used bicycles. Our Community Bikes also offers bicycle mechanical training, free bikes and repairs to underserved communities, and education outreach programs. Our Community Bikes also has a charitable nonprofit. Annual revenues are approximately $1,000,000 of which 60-70% are earned revenue with the remaining developed through grants and fundraising. Compensation:

$29.00 - $38.00/hour commensurate with experience. Health & benefits package per PEDAL policies. This is a casual position, 15-20 hours per week, flexible schedule.
