Job Opportunity: Development Coordinator

  • Location: Anywhere in Canada (working remotely, periodic shared space available in Victoria).
  • Full time: Estimated 40 hours/week, flexible work schedule
  • Remuneration: compensated monthly, starting $65k-$68k/annum (based on experience).

Position overview

NBSF is seeking a passionate and highly skilled Development Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in advancing our mission to protect endangered ecosystems through building relationships and innovative partnerships. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in fundraising, donor relations, and event coordination, paired with a proven commitment to nature conservation and environmental stewardship.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized professional with at least three years of relevant experience, exceptional communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to develop impactful communications and marketing materials. The ideal candidate must possess strong time management skills and be capable of prioritizing tasks effectively against tight deadlines and/or priorities. The ideal candidate is also proactive in contributing ideas and seeking feedback from their team. Skills and experience:

  • Minimum of three years professional experience in a relevant field
  • Strong understanding of ecosystems and conservation issues
  • Demonstrated commitment to protecting nature (work and/or volunteer experience)
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional people skills
  • Fundraising and/or donor relations experience
  • Experience with organizing and delivering events or presentations
  • Strong research skills
  • Experience developing a diversity of communications/marketing materials
  • Highly detail oriented, organized, accurate, flexible, and reliable

Responsibilities:

  • With the help of databases and software, research and monitor leads (potential funders, supporters, and partners) to identify and record businesses, organizations, and/or philanthropists who are aligned with NBSF’s mission and work.
  • Draft tailored communications for identified prospects with the goal of scheduling meetings/calls for the National Programs Manager.
  • Develop donor stewardship plans.
  • Send follow-ups when necessary.
  • Maintain detailed and up to date information on prospects.
  • Proactively respond to any messages from prospects.
  • Draft, update, edit, and send a range of communications materials to funders and/or partners (pitch decks, presentations, write-ups, spotlights, etc.)
  • Maintain relationships with existing supporters and/or partners, and send regular updates.
  • Assist with creating and sending formal agreements with sponsors and partners.
  • Assist with drafting marketing materials, such as articles and social media.
  • Support grant writing.
  • Support the organization, preparation, and delivery of events.
  • Support emergent tasks and priorities as requested.
