We work with our clients and customers to manage & reduce their waste through best practices program design, innovation, information, education, engagement, including service delivery excellence. This position will support the implementation of key operational and customer service components for a significant residential curbside collection contract.

Field Data Collection Specialist Position

This is a temporary position from May 2025 to August 2025. Recycling Alternative (RA) will begin servicing the Multi-Unit Residential Building recycling collection in Downtown Vancouver and False Creek in spring 2026. In advance of that RA will be executing an 18 week project to ‘ground truth’ and verify access and contact information for the buildings within the service area. This position will be responsible for visiting each building in the service area, to establish a relationship with the property and the property manager. This includes confirming operational information such as: the recycling tote numbers and locations, space for additional recycling totes, access requirements, and building on-site contact information. This position provides a key foundation for confirming the operational plan, and is important for relationship building, and setting the base for a successful program launch.

This position will be mostly working in the field to verify the information in the database, and partially in the office updating the database information. Tasks will include meeting with property managers in person, over the phone, and coordinating with them via email.

Below is a more detailed list of the key tasks the position is responsible for:

Data Integrity

  • Review, maintain and update data within Sharepoint Database
  • Through on the ground and desk based research, confirm existing data, update gaps in data, and remove out of date / incomplete data
  • Documenting collection sites with photos, sorting and storing in the database
  • Collect physical assets (such as keys, FOBs, etc) as needed, label, store and update database

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proficient computer & equipment skills
  • Software experience; Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Sharepoint
  • Customer Service skills - comfortable talking on the phone, in person, and over email
  • Logistics and operational understanding
  • Extremely detail oriented and thorough

Working Conditions

  • Most of the work will be outside inventorying property sites
  • Temporary position from May 2025 to August 2025
  • 40 Hours per week, from 8.30am - 5pm.
  • Wage is $22 per hour
  • Site work will be done in pairs; however working alone may be required at times
