Location: Southeastern Georgian Bay (South of 12 Mile Bay and north of Honey Harbour) Must be available to be in southern Georgian Bay from late May to late August and willing to stay at a field site for a significant portion of that time.
Anticipated dates: May 19 - August 29, 2025
Overview:
The Georgian Bay Land Trust (GBLT) Research Students are additional staff support for the various research projects GBLT engages in. GBLT has two ongoing research projects regarding the breeding habitat of Eastern Whip-poor-will and the post-dispersal habitat of Prairie Warblers. In addition to this, research students will begin the initial year of a research project studying succession of coastal and inland wetlands along the Georgian Bay coast. This position will assist GBLT staff in completing presence/absence surveys of the species, vegetation surveys of breeding locations, ELC classification of breeding locations, and general species monitoring/observation work of both Eastern Whip-poor-will.

These positions will require knowledge of the Georgian Bay environment and will include training regarding the inventory work and survey protocols. They will require technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in small teams in remote locations.

Salary: $21/hr
Boat gas and expenses will be covered.
Preference will be given to students, particularly those enrolled in an environmental science-related program in college or university.
