Hidden Hill Farm is a small, ecological, pasture based farm outside of Holland Centre, ON. We grow about 1/4 acre of cut flowers, 3000 pasture raised chickens, and pasture raised sheep. Our products currently sold at one GTA farmers market, expanding to 2 markets in 2025.

We typically hire one full time seasonal staff, as well as temporary help during the busiest parts of the year. On farm housing is provided. Pay ranges from $20-$26 depending on prior experience. This position is 40 hours/week, but requires flexibility in the way each work week and work day is structured. Some days require different start or end times, or need to be staggered, in order to accommodate harvests, market days, chicken catching, etc. This is a physically demanding job, sometimes requiring heavy lifting and long hours. This is also a position requiring excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Experience with market gardening, flower production and/or livestock is an asset, but not strictly required.

This position will assist the farm manager with the following crop, livestock, marketing and general farm tasks:

• Propagate and care for flower seedlings and bulbs
• Preparation of 1/4 acre cut flower garden + Greenhouse
• Planting/Transplanting
• Caring for perennial flowers
• Irrigation/fertilization
• Hand weeding
• Managing hoop tunnels, removing/replacing plastic + row cover
• Early morning / evening harvesting, including heavy lifting
• Harvesting wildflowers
• Assembling / wrapping bouquets
• Assembling + maintaining waterlines
• Monitoring and maintenance of heaters and waterers
• Maintaining feeders including heavy lifting
• Maintaining bedding shavings in the brooder (dusty)
• Receiving / placing day-old chicks
• Caring for ill or injured birds
• Euthanizing ill or injured birds (if necessary)
• Disposing of dead birds
• Pushing/Moving 200 squarefoot chicken tractors daily (heavy)
• Catching chickens for transport to the slaughterhouse
• Picking up and delivering frozen chickens
• Preparing for farmers markets
• Attending and selling at farmers markets once or twice each week (12 hour days)
• Cultivation
• Mowing
• Other tractor work
• Cleaning / Maintaining tiny home for on-farm paid accommodations guests
• Other work around the farm and/or errands as needed
