About Roots 2 Rise Outdoors

Roots 2 Rise Outdoors offers small group, year round outdoor programs for children ages 2 to 10. Programs take place in ravines and forested spaces where children can explore, play, and build confidence through meaningful time outside.

The Role

We are looking for Lead and Assistant Outdoor Educators to join our team for the Spring and Summer 2026 seasons, with opportunities to continue into Fall and Winter.

Educators facilitate small group outdoor programs and support children in exploring the natural environment through play, curiosity, and hands on experiences.

This role involves working outdoors in all weather and adapting to the rhythms of the group and the environment.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Spring Season 2026 (10 to 20 hours per week) Weekends and Afterschool Availability is required
  • Summer Season 2026 - (35 hours per week) Monday - Friday (9am-4pm)
  • Compensation;
  • $18 to $22 per hour depending on experience
  • Contract position with potential for ongoing seasonal work.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Facilitating outdoor, child-led programs for children within our unique approach to learning.
  • Supporting children's safety and wellbeing in natural environments.
  • Working closely with co facilitators.
  • Adapting activities accordingly, based on weather, group interests, and each individuals needs/interests.
  • Helping create a positive and welcoming program space.
  • Lead Educators will also support program planning, site checks, and mentoring assistants.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments through the program.

Required

  • Experience working with children (2 Years)
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Vulnerable sector check (Upon hire)
  • Ability to hike, bend, kneel, and be active with young children
  • Passion for working with kids and a connection with nature

Nice to Have

  • Experience in outdoor or nature based education
  • Background in ECE, education, environmental education, or related fields
  • Knowledge of plants, animals, environment, natural history, art.
  • Experience with play based and inquiry based learning
