Title: Local Mobilizer, Guelph
Organization: Green Party of Ontario
Location: Remote in Guelph area, with in-person meetings as needed.

Overview of Role:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and dynamic Local Mobilizer for Guelph, to work alongside the local grassroots GPO team in support of MPP Mike Schreiner's path to re-election. This role focuses on engaging with grassroots volunteers, training volunteers on key organizing skills, and supporting the party’s political growth in the region in the lead up to the 2026 provincial election. The Mobilizer will be working closely with the volunteer members of the Guelph Greens, and will be critical in organizing, coaching, and energizing this volunteer team to achieve their re-election goals.

This role is designed for someone who is passionate about political change, committed to community engagement, and skilled in mobilizing diverse groups toward a common goal. Election Campaign Strategy: Lead core organizing activities to engage voters and the community

  • Support the Guelph Greens Team with the implementation of a re-election campaign plan.
  • Organize regular canvasses leveraging provincial issue campaigns and legislative priorities and results.
  • Identify events and issues that are important to the local community, mobilizing volunteers to attend rallies, table at events, etc.
  • Support the Guelph Greens Team with fundraising efforts throughout the year.

Volunteer Engagement and Development

  • Create and organize volunteer opportunities to build volunteer skills across the riding.
  • Mobilize supporters and volunteers within the Guelph riding for active participation in partisan events and campaigns.
  • Facilitate recruitment, retention, and management of new volunteers.
  • Identify and leverage strategic engagement opportunities with youth, equity-seeking groups, and other key sectors.

Capacity Building

  • Stay updated on Green caucus activities and share ways to connect with the local community.
  • Understand the unique needs and capacities within the Guelph Greens team, and provide targeted support and coaching.
  • Work with the local volunteer team to organize and mobilize around opportunities in the riding as they arise.

Team Collaboration and Tools Utilization

  • Actively participate in internal meetings with the GPO and maintain regular communication with the Director of Mobilizing, peer Mobilizers, and local riding association.
  • Utilize GPO software and tools proficiently, including databases, project management tools and Google Suite, to keep systems and documents up-to-date.
  • Embrace the variety of responsibilities that come with the mobilizing role, ready to take on additional duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with community organizing
  • Experience with volunteer recruitment and volunteer management
  • Leadership experience; experience with teaching / training / coaching others
  • Experience on a political campaign
  • Experience with fundraising
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Enjoy working with other people, are patient and have a positive, courteous attitude
  • Passion & commitment to social and environmental change in Ontario
  • Proficient in working with various online technologies such as Google Suite, Slack, CRM, databases, etc.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects at one time under pressure
  • Flexibility -- we are a small organization and staff members take on various roles outside of our typical job descriptions - we operate as “all hands on deck”
  • Relevant post-secondary degree, or equivalent training, education & experience

Assets

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive within Ontario (travel may be required on occasion to join in-person meetings in the region, etc)
  • Ability to speak multiple languages
