Summer Job: Social Media Coordinator
Type: age 30 & under / summer
Project: Elevating Community-Rooted Climate Justice in Canada

Location: Remote (anywhere in Canada) with a preference for Vancouver or Toronto

  • Compensation: $25/hour plus 4% vacation pay, paid in accordance with applicable provincial employment standards. This is a temporary full-time contract position for approximately 12 weeks (June–August 2026), based on 36 hours per week. Employees are paid on a semi-monthly basis.

The Social Media Coordinator would develop and operationalize a social media strategy for Small Change Fund’s partnership project with 350.org, Elevating Community-Rooted Climate Justice in Canada.

This project aims to change harmful energy policies and expose the real costs of pollution. We equip climate organizers with the tools, resources, and skills to engage the public, organize in their communities, and mobilize to demand strong climate action policies and secure institutional wins that reduce emissions and advance justice.

About Small Change Fund and 350.org:

Small Change Fund acts as a catalyst for individuals and grassroots organizations. We work together with partners to improve the environment; reduce poverty; and promote reconciliation efforts across Canada including working with Indigenous Peoples to support the protection of their lands, waters and communities.

350’s mission is to keep carbon in our atmosphere to a safe level, below 350 parts per million. We do this by mobilizing ordinary people to campaign for universal access to clean energy and an end to fossil fuels.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Draft copy and design graphics for social media assets to counter climate misinformation, lift up climate action, and connect climate impacts to fossil fuel extraction
  • Script, film, and edit direct-to-camera videos for Instagram and TikTok.
  • Post content and engage with audiences and supporters on a variety of social media platforms.
  • Explore collaborations with allied organizations and content creators to increase reach and engagement.
  • Support with research and writing for campaign materials, websites, and communications.
  • A strong understanding of climate justice and experience with grassroots organizing is highly recommended.
  • Mostly remote position with some in-person meeting and office time.
  • The Social Media Coordinator will report to the Vice President of Projects at Small Change Fund

Qualifications:

  • A commitment to anti-oppression principles, and intersectionality
  • Background in grassroots organizing
  • Strong grasp of climate justice principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with fluency in English
  • Familiarity with principled digital storytelling for justice-based campaigns
  • Experienced with using social media platforms
  • Experienced with using graphic design tools such as Canva
  • Strong self-management capacity and organizational skills

Eligibility: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Work Arrangement: This is a primarily remote position with occasional in-person meetings, events, and campaign activities. Candidates must have reliable internet access and be able to attend periodic local meetings or participate in occasional work travel as required.

Location: Anywhere in Canada with preference for Toronto or Vancouver
