Contract Position

Contract: Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Workshop Developer

Sustainable Kingston is excited to launch a series of six climate change adaptation workshops designed to empower businesses, public support organizations, and community groups in Kingston and the surrounding area. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Workshop Developer to design and deliver these impactful workshops, which will provide practical strategies and tools for addressing the impacts of climate change. The target audience for these workshops includes small businesses, non-profits, community and neighbourhood organizations, and interested residents.

This part-time, contract position offers a $6,500 honorarium for approximately 170 hours of work from March 1 to June 30, 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Workshop Design and Development: Create engaging, interactive, evidence-based workshop content, including presentations, activities, and supplementary resources.
  • Presentations: Facilitate in-person workshops and contribute to complementary online resources, including webinars and downloadable materials.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with local partners to ensure content is relevant and tailored to regional needs.
  • Evaluation, Refinement, and Reporting: Gather participant feedback to improve the workshop's effectiveness and accessibility. After the project is completed, write a 1,000-word report.
  • Assist in creating Online Modules: Help create complementary online resources, including webinars, tutorials, and downloadable materials for remote access and continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Environmental Studies, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of climate adaptation and resilience-building strategies.
  • Experience in workshop development, curriculum design, or facilitation.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Experience with basic web design preferred.
