Purpose of the Position
WPF is seeking an experienced and well-rounded Fundraising Coordinator to join its dynamic, tight-knit team. The Fundraising Coordinator will identify fundraising opportunities, build relationships with donors and manage sponsorships and grant writing to help support children and youth across Canada. The successful candidate will have a passion for WPF’s mission and a proven ability to meet financial targets. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Fundraising Coordinator will lead the organization’s fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, motivated, and familiar with a range of comprehensive fundraising approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Donor Portfolio Management: Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
- Prospect Research & Proposal Development: Identify new funding prospects and create tailored proposals, reports, and budgets.
- Executive & Board Support: Assist with donor cultivation through preparation, participation, and follow-up for meetings with the Executive Director and Board.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work with internal teams and external partners to align donor communications and ensure effective outreach.
- Fundraising Strategy & Stewardship: Uphold ethical fundraising standards, track donor history via CRM, research new opportunities, and foster a philanthropic culture.
- Annual Fundraising & Communications: Develop and execute annual giving strategies, including campaigns for major and monthly donors, while leading multi-channel fundraising efforts (mail, email, social).
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Fundraising Expertise: Knowledge of donor relations, event sponsorship, grant writing, and giving programs.
- Event Management: Experience planning and executing fundraising events, including volunteer engagement.
- Communication: Strong presentation and writing skills to convey WPF’s mission effectively.
- Technology Skills: Proficient in MS Office and CRM software.
- Problem Solving: Creative and resourceful in developing donor engagement strategies.
- Adaptability: Flexible in adjusting strategies to changing circumstances.
- Collaboration: Team-oriented with experience in remote/hybrid work environments.
- Self-Motivation: Independent and proactive, with a focus on driving projects forward.
Required Education and Experience
- The completion of post-secondary certification in Fundraising Management or equivalent combination of experience and education. A relevant Bachelor degree will be an asset.
- At least two (2) to three (3) years of increasing responsibility in a not-for-profit development role, with a demonstrated track record of meeting fundraising goals.
- Strong experience in donor cultivation, grant writing, corporate partnerships, and managing government grants and contracts.
- Familiarity with funding communities, especially in Ontario, including existing relationships.
Desirable Experience
- Fluency in both English and French
- Experience working with cross-cultural environments, particularly with First Nations communities, is an asset.
- At least two (2) years of prior experience coordinating sponsorship development, managing volunteers, and working in administrative support or customer service roles.
- Experience in digital fundraising, social media campaigns, and content creation.
Operational Expectations
- Work Schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, with occasional evening and weekend work required for events and meetings with donors.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule during events, including shifts that extend into evenings or weekends. Some travel for donor meetings and events will be required.
- Often, customer service, administrative and other tasks outside of the job description are required by all team members.
- The successful candidate must provide a clear Criminal Record Check and a valid Driver’s Abstract.
