Position: Donor Relations Coordinator
Organization: West Coast Environmental Law
Location: Vancouver, BC

Vancouver-based West Coast Environmental Law has an immediate opening for a full-time (five days/week), permanent staff position based in our Vancouver office (some degree of flexible work arrangements can be considered).

QUALIFICATIONS

We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate:

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; proactive with ability to problem solve and/or develop solutions and improve processes
  • Well-developed verbal, written, and organizational skills
  • Consultative, facilitative and collaborative working habits
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize, and meet deadlines in an environment with varied needs and objectives
  • Excellent computer skills including experience with databases and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Salesforce database an asset
  • Application of a well managed database and understanding of its vital role in achieving fundraising success
  • Knowledge of CRA requirements as related to charitable receipting.
  • Basic understanding of financial accountability best practices and reconciliation processes
  • Ability to work with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality regarding donor and other fundraising information
  • Ability to take and follow instructions and ask questions when necessary.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of staff, volunteers and supporters
  • An understanding and demonstrated application of equity and justice principles

RESPONSIBILITIES

Donor Relations

  • Serve as the front-line contact for donors and prospects by providing prompt, friendly responses to donor inquiries and requests.
  • Coordinate all donor receipts, process all paperwork relating to donations, donor stewardship (including thank you letters/notes) and retention, according to organizational protocols and CRA requirements.
  • Support donation appeal mail outs and emails and coordinate twice a year donor newsletter.
  • Maintain integrity of donor and prospect records, both electronic and hard copy, with a view to keeping our database records accurate and up to date.
  • Work with the team to ensure that development processes are consistent, efficient and of the highest standard.
  • Participate in strategizing and planning sessions and contribute to the execution of the organization’s Development Plan with the Director of Development.
  • Support Development Officer and Director of Development through identification of mid-level, major gift and legacy giving prospects, supporting stewardship correspondence drafts and performing prospect research as requested.

Funder & Granting Relations

  • Support the Director of Development with grant and other proposals, including managing grant calendar, tracking proposals, reporting deadlines, and assisting with associated administration.
  • Liaise with program staff to compile quantitative and qualitative data for reports to funders.
  • Research new funding opportunities and suggest alignment with program needs.

Finance/Administration

  • Reconcile monthly fundraising revenue between the accounting and development departments; provide detailed monthly and quarterly fundraising activity reports to the Director
  • Perform routine data entry in Salesforce including payment processing, donor contact info, change of address, mail contact frequency, record creation and updates
  • Coordinate annual internal audit processes and documents, with support from the Director of Development and Financial Manager
  • Review and analyze patterns of giving and identify opportunities to increase revenue as requested by the Development Officer or Director
  • Liaise regularly with the Digital Strategy Coordinator to ensure smooth operation of database systems.

Remuneration: Salary range is $51,320 - $61,810 per annum commensurate with experience. We offer a competitive vacation and benefits package including pension (RRSP contribution) after one year of employment. Part-time (down to .8 time), flexible work hours and/or partial work-from home possible; in the case of reduced hours, FTE salary would be pro-rated accordingly.
