Title: Program Coordinator (Conservation Planning, Science, and Data Management)
Reports to: Program Director
Organization: Nature NB 
Location: Fredericton (would consider remote within New Brunswick)

JOB OVERVIEW

Nature NB connects people with nature.

We support a diverse network of nature-lovers across the province, providing opportunities for New Brunswickers of all ages, and from all regions and backgrounds, to discover, learn about, and share nature with each other. We travel throughout the province, teaching kids about nature in their schoolyards and neighbourhoods, advocate for species at risk through local outreach, and engage volunteers in monitoring and protecting the species and landscapes they love.

The Programs Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the implementation of Nature NB’s species at-risk and climate change adaptation projects. The Programs Coordinator will also play a lead role in managing Nature NB’s conservation data and provide technical/scientific support to our conservation work (e.g. conservation planning, GIS, etc.).

Examples of projects this position may coordinate or collaborate on include: agroecosystems species at-risk conservation planning and on the ground projects, coastal conservation planning and partnership work, protected natural areas stewardship, and participating in national/provincial conservation working groups.

This is a permanent, full-time position with some weekend and evening work required.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Lead conservation planning efforts, including monitoring and implementation plan updates for agroecosystem and coastal conservation projects;
  • Create, update, and maintain data management systems for Nature NB’s various conservation projects;
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to new and ongoing conservation projects;
  • Communicate and collaborate with partner organizations and volunteers;
  • Assist with grant writing & project development;
  • Conduct research, analyze data, and prepare internal reports for Nature NB;
  • Participate in training and relevant workshops related to the position to expand personal and professional knowledge;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

Requirements:

  • University degree or college degree with a biology, environmental studies/science
  • Experience in conservation planning and adaptive management (e.g. Conservation Standards);
  • Experience in project management and effectiveness monitoring;
  • Experience in data management and report writing;
  • Knowledge of New Brunswick flora & fauna;
  • Exemplary and proven organization, planning, and communication (written and oral), and project management skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including experience and proven results in working tactfully with colleagues, and ability and experience in easily communicating with a wide range of people in public and private sectors;
  • Ability to develop and maintain a dynamic work plan, and meet fixed deadlines for projects spanning 1+ years;
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a project team;
  • Familiarity with common computer software (Microsoft Office Suite);
  • Written and spoken fluency in English;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector.

Assets:

  • Written and spoken fluency in French;
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
  • Experience with graphic design software/programs;
  • First Aid certification

SALARY AND BENEFITS: $40,000-$60,000 (based on experience) FTE, 32hr work-week, personal days, paid vacation, medical and dental benefits
