Hiring: Bartender (part-time permanent)

Introduction:

Evergreen is seeking a Bartender to work at our special events bar in our one-of-a-kind event venues at Evergreen Brick Works. The Bartender at Evergreen supports internally produced events and our Sipping Container, the spot for visitors to the Brick Works to grab a refreshing alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage during public event days, like the Artisan Market, the Vintage Market and Movie Nights.

About the Role:

The Evergreen Bartender provides exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment, crafting and serving drinks. This role involves serving and preparing beverages, engaging with guests, and maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the bar area. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, works well in team settings, and has a strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests warmly and ensure a positive experience at the bar and Sipping Container.
  • Take and fulfill orders efficiently while providing recommendations for specialty drinks or promotions.
  • Handle guest inquiries and concerns with professionalism.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and portion controls.
  • Restock bar supplies, including glassware, garnishes, and beverages and bar snacks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, following health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with setup and teardown of the bar for special events.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Support team leads and supervisors with inventory checks and other operational needs.
  • Adhere to all liquor licensing laws and venue policies regarding alcohol service.
  • Monitor guest behavior and refuse service to individuals when necessary, following training and protocols.
  • Accurately operate a computerized Point of Sale (POS) system and handle cash.
  • Troubleshoot POS issues such as error messages, mislabeled items etc.
  • Engage in proper procedures for opening and closing bar operations including but not limited to float retrieval and return, cash deposit drops, reporting etc.
  • Help ensure accurate inventory management and support product shipment and delivery.
  • Help keep bar locations clean and inviting, carrying out minor custodial tasks as required.
  • Contribute to positive workplace culture and great internal communication.

About You:

You excel in the following areas:

You have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in bartending, food service, or customer service.
  • Prior experience with POS system and handling cash.
  • Smart Serve certified.
  • Must meet legal age requirements for serving alcohol.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new things and working with a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Supervised by: Sr Manager, Events & Logistics

Working Conditions:

  • This position is based out of Evergreen’s head office at Evergreen Brick Works (EBW) in Toronto and requires on-site presence in various EBW spaces.
  • Working indoors and outside, sometimes in inclement weather.
  • Fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Some lifting of heavy objects

Contract:

  • Part time, permanent
  • Hourly wage: $23.74 per hour
