Position: Naturally grown farm work-stay / volunteer
Type: volunteer position with accom, food, weekly salary, more (see below)
Farm: Bernie's Greens/Bern'ail
Location: Très-Saint-Rédempteur, west of Montreal, Quebec

I am a market gardener and vegetable grower in western Quebec, near the Ontario border. I do not use any treated or GMO seeds, no chemical fertilizer neither pesticides! All my production is done with 100% natural methods. ( eco farming )

I have a 15 acres farm, of which two acres are currently cultivated.

I have three greenhouses for production, the rest is open field growing… I specialize in early greens (spinach, Asian greens mix, lettuce, Kale, swiss chard, scallions, baby beets, etc.). My main field production is garlic. In my greenhouse, I mainly grow pink, red and cherry tomatoes, but also eggplants and sweet peppers.

I sell my veggies in three farmers markets, local customers and at food coops.

I'm seeking a volunteer to work with me from end of April until the end of October.

Here are some details and advantages of choosing to do your volunteer work with me:

  • I offer food, accommodation and a salary of $300 per week
    • Full accommodation
      • Lodging: in my house on the farm.
      • Food included
    • There will be a 2 weeks trial period, so each of us can determine if we can work well together
    • Must be reliable and stay for the entire season (beginning of April until the end of October)
  • I have 25 years experience and I often teach and advise others on their individual projects. It's very important for me that the volunteer should feel he or she has learned something useful during their stay, that they can use this knowledge in the future.
  • I live in a beautiful spot with forest and walking trails
  • I live at a 50 minutes drive from Montreal
  • I am part of a well-established network of organic farmers in the region
  • I sell my products at local farmers markets and the volunteer would gain farmers market selling experience

  • I enjoy very good and healthy cuisine (I'm not a vegan)
  • I have a cat and a dog

  • I speak french and english .
