Foraging / Wildcrafting

Role: Foraging Apprentice Opportunity – Summer 2025
Location: based out of Vancouver BC
Compensation: This is a mentorship opportunity rather than a salaried position. However, you will earn a share of sales while learning the trade. Experienced foragers can often see earnings of $30-50+/hr

Are you passionate about wild foods, ecology, and sustainable harvesting?

Looking for hands-on experience in foraging and direct sales to top restaurants?

I’m a professional forager who has supplied many of Vancouver’s finest kitchens and bars with wild ingredients for the past four years, and as I prepare to leave the area, I’m looking for an apprentice to pass on my knowledge and connections.

What You’ll Learn:

  • My foraging locations and best practices for ethical, sustainable harvesting
  • Proper handling, storage, and transportation of wild ingredients
  • How to build and maintain relationships with chefs and restaurants
  • The business side of foraging: pricing, sales, and market demands

Ideal Candidate:

  • Has experience in fine dining, food production, or farm-to-table operations
  • Detail-oriented, quick-working, and comfortable handling perishable ingredients
  • Interested in ecology, sustainable harvesting, and the ethical responsibilities of foraging
  • Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Has access to reliable transportation

Compensation:

This is a mentorship opportunity rather than a salaried position. However, you will earn a share of sales while learning the trade. Expected earnings for experienced foragers can range from $30-50+/hr depending on the season and demand.

Commitment:

This is a short-term, intensive summer training opportunity (dates flexible). Ideal for someone serious about developing foraging as a business or supplementing their income with wild harvests. You can expect to work 5-10 hrs / week through the season.

How to Apply:

If this sounds like the right fit, send an email with your background, interest in foraging, and relevant experience to tomer.rockman@gmail.com . Tell me why you’d be a great apprentice!
