Do you live in the Lower Mainland Area and have a passion for Fungi? The Vancouver Mycological Society is seeking enthusiastic fungi lovers to join our 2025 Board! We are currently seeking applications for: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and members at large!

Our Board positions are entirely volunteer and require 5-10 hours of commitment per month. While much of the work we do is remote, we have monthly gatherings and various in person events. To get the most out of a board position with us, we highly recommend participating in the walks, presentations, and shows we put on.

WHO WE ARE:

The VMS is a group of individuals who share a common interest in mushrooms and fungi.

Since 1978, we have been a non-profit, volunteer-run society.

There seems to be as many different approaches to enjoying the humble fungus as there are different people. From food to ecology, technology, photography, painting, poetry, song, and dance! Our club meets monthly to observe mushrooms, and learn ever deeper appreciation for their mysteries.

We promote the conservation of fungi and of wilderness areas that serve as vital habitat for our rich and diverse fungal flora.

Club activities include:

• Presentations by scientists, artists, and the mycologically-passionate on their specific area of interest
• Learning the common and scientific names of mushrooms collected by members and brought to the monthly meetings
• Forays and field trips to collect, study, and name fungi in the wild
• Dinners, workshops, and an annual mushroom festival!

Eligibility for Board Member Position:
- At least 18 years of age
- Capable of managing your own affairs
- Not undergoing bankruptcy
- Have not been convicted of fraud or corporate offense within the last five years
