Leaders in Environmentally Accountable Foodservice (LEAF) is seeking to fill the position of Treasurer.

About LEAF

Leaders in Environmentally Accountable Foodservice (LEAF) is Canada’s only nationwide, non-profit food service certification, education and advocacy program. Established in 2009, LEAF helps restaurants reduce their environmental impact and makes it easy for patrons to identify green restaurants. We work with all types of foodservice facilities including restaurants, cafes, food trucks, campuses and tourist locations. Our mission is to lead and advance change toward sustainable foodservice operations.

About the position

The Treasurer is in charge of all of LEAF’s financial transactions and fundraising initiatives, as well as providing context and information on LEAF’s financials.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with LEAF’s Board members to meet LEAF’s financial goals.
  • Recommend modifications to LEAF’s leadership on operating systems, budgets, processes, and/or other financial control functions.
  • Plan, coordinate, oversee, manage, and assess accounting-related matters or other financial plans. These may include budget planning, financial reporting, bookkeeping, record-keeping, and managing cash flow.
  • Organize the budgeting and financial planning procedures, and evaluate and adjust estimates.
  • Prepare financial statements, summaries, and other financial management reports and cost-benefit evaluations, and/or oversee their creation.
  • Serve as a liaison for the LEAF’s financial stakeholders and/or external financial experts.

The ideal candidate will:

  • A self-starter with excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess impeccable written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Quickbooks or other financial software is an asset.
  • Access to tax and/or financial software is an asset.
  • Experience with grant writing and/or in the nonprofit sector is an asset.
  • Experience with Excel or Google Sheets is an asset.
  • Business background and high-level of financial literacy are assets.
  • Non-profit experience is an asset.

Position Terms

  • The time commitment will average 10-15 hours per month. This position is without remuneration.
