Needed: Evaluation Analyst

About LEAF:
Leaders in Environmentally Accountable Foodservice (LEAF) is Canada’s only nationwide, non-profit food service certification, education and advocacy program. Established in 2009, LEAF helps restaurants reduce their environmental impact and makes it easy for patrons to identify green restaurants. We work with all types of foodservice facilities including restaurants, cafes, food trucks, campuses and tourist locations.
About the Role:
The Evaluation Analyst will work under the direction of the Environmental Co-Chairs to collect, review and analyze data relating to our LEAF-certified foodservice establishments and suppliers. The Evaluation Analyst will be responsible for identifying trends in the data and generating reports as required. In addition, the position will entail establishing KPIs alongside the Environmental team and using these KPIs to measure and evaluate LEAF performance.
Research Skills: Ability to conduct thorough research on sustainability trends, regulations, and emerging technologies in the food service industry. Enhance existing evaluation framework by incorporating new methodologies, and metrics to provide more accurate, actionable insights on the environmental sustainability performance of the foodservice industry. For example, updating scoring systems to reflect new trends like carbon footprint analysis or food waste diversion rates.
Knowledge of Sustainability Regulations: Understanding of environmental laws such as CEPA, Waste Diversion Acts, and sustainability certifications such as LEED, Energy Star, etc..
Analytical Skills: Ability to assess data and create sustainability reports, identify areas of improvement, and make actionable recommendations.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting, presenting findings, and educating stakeholders on sustainable practices.
Evaluation Ownership: Responsible for the evaluation process from research and development through implementation and ongoing monitoring.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify challenges and recommend innovative solutions to improve the evaluation process.
Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the food service industry’s unique sustainability challenges, including waste management, energy consumption, and sustainable sourcing.
Role Requirements:
Position Terms: The time commitment will average 10-15 hours per month, which includes fulfilling action items, correspondence with the Executive Director and regular virtual meetings with LEAF volunteers. This position is without remuneration.
Location: Virtual/remote. Work anywhere in Canada.
