Project: Frank Street Bee Butterfly Garden

Place: Frank Street Bee Butterfly Garden, across from 360-384 Frank Street, Centretown Ottawa 
Hours: 2-3 hrs/wk May to early October (except vacation, school, etc)

Central Ottawa's largest volunteer-run garden, with approximately 75 native plant species & 30 naturalized, invites volunteers to join for the 2026 season!

Each year we've enjoyed meeting & working with up to 22 new seasonal volunteers plus a few longer term persons.  Climate Change is presenting some challenges such as hot dry times and smokey air days!  It's up to all of us together to help native wildflowers, bees, and butterflies adapt in our urban landscape. 

Work-meets at the garden one or two per week; probably be Wednesdays 6 pm again this year.  It's important for people to enjoy getting together. Each person has valuable talents to offer. There will be opportunities to meet new people as we engage with the variety of activities.

Things move and change fast in the garden.  Get in touch with nature & learn some about gardening, native plants, and the world of bees and butterflies! 

More experienced volunteers, ask about helping coordinate one of the garden beds. If you would like a special role or assignment that supports your studies we will work with you on that.

Each year we have plant sales, a Pride party in August, and have had Herbwalks in July.  New Garden tours are planned of gardens in Centretown, including 3 of our satellite gardens nearby. So there's lots of things to do in organizing and interacting with people if that suits your interest.
