Jane Goodall Institute of Canada

Founded in 1993, the JGIC is the Canadian chapter of a dynamic global network of Jane Goodall Institutes around the world.

Inspired by the vision of our founder Dr. Jane Goodall, our vision is a healthy planet where people make compassionate choices to live sustainably and in harmony with each other, the environment and other animals.

In Africa, we support community-led conservation projects to protect key habitats for chimpanzees and great apes, while working to improve the wellbeing of local communities living in the these ecologically fragile areas.

In Canada, the JGIC partners with Indigenous-led organizations to tackle environmental inequity, biodiversity loss, and climate change; and through its Roots & Shoots program, empowers young people to take action to protect our shared home. JaneGoodall.ca

What You Can Do

Action is hope, unleashed. Every day, we come to work and think: how can we inspire people to act? And how can those people, in turn, act in a way that inspires others to do the same? Action isn’t possible for all of us, all the time. But if you have the energy to do some good today, and inspire some good in others, then join us. We have a lot of work to do.

  1. ForeverWild — Join the fight against illegal wildlife trafficking so that animals can remain #ForeverWild. Act Now
  2. The Forest is Calling — It costs the environment a lot to make your cell phone. Take the pledge to recycle your phone and help save endangered species. Act Now
  3. Jane’s Green Hope — To protect global biodiversity, we must restore and protect the green spaces in our own communities. Will you help? Act Now
