About the Role

This role focuses on maintaining essential systems, leading prioritized improvements, and building tools that increase data visibility and organizational effectiveness.

As a 20-hour/week position, this role prioritizes high-impact systems work over reactive troubleshooting.

You Will contribute to:

Data Management

  • Maintaining and demonstrating the use of Neighbours United’s core CRM and engagement systems (e.g., database hygiene, core automations, reporting structures)
  • Recurring system reviews to ensure tools remain functional and aligned with campaign goals
  • Documenting workflows to ensure clarity and continuity

Digital management focuses on core system maintenance, dissemination to campaign staff, and recurring reviews. This role is not responsible for real-time troubleshooting of individual staff errors or ad hoc tech requests.

Digital Organizing Support

  • Supporting an annual evaluation of NU’s tech ecosystem
  • Identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and areas of opportunity
  • Working with campaign teams to implement digital tools and best practices into their campaigns. Implement improvements based on capacity and quarterly goals
  • Building staff competency in digital tools through training and capacity building across all teams

  • Providing data insights for reporting, fundraising, or board updates as requested
  • Upholding and modeling Neighbours United’s mission and values

  • Knowledgeable and/or interested in digital organizing tools and practices
  • Caring and community-minded, knowing how to listen deeply to local perspectives and excited to coach people to step into their own power
  • You’re comfortable being the only staff person in the room. You don’t need a big team to get things done
  • A communicator who interacts with clarity, empathy, and professionalism across all audiences
  • Campaign-minded, ideally with experience volunteering on a campaign, organizing locally, or navigating policy issues (a strong asset, though transferable community leadership counts too!)
  • Experienced in developing volunteers into leaders who take on real responsibility
  • Able to take independent ownership of your work, managing your time effectively and driving projects forward in a remote work setting without needing step-by-step supervision
  • Aligned with Neighbours United’s values: fairness, transparency, and building community first

We know great digital organizers come from all kinds of backgrounds. If you don’t check every box above but you know how to build real relationships and grow people into leaders, we want to hear from you.

About Neighbours United

Neighbours United is a community-driven charity that brings people together in rural, small, and suburban areas to support policies that protect the people and places we love. Through strategic campaigns using engagement organizing, deep canvassing, and communications, we are moving the needle in places often left out of progressive solutions. By centering personal stories we broaden public support beyond the usual environmental base.

We focus on areas and audiences that are frequently written off as unreachable. We invest in real conversations that matter to people.

We are known for our deep canvassing based approach: listening, leading with personal stories, and creating space for people to wrestle with real tensions. Rather than broadcasting messages, we create conversations that allow people to reflect, connect, and act.
