RA’s sister company, Terraforma Systems (TFS) is a cleantech company designing and manufacturing waste and recycling equipment for customers to implement in their waste management programs. This equipment  incorporates technology that interacts with the human interface and produces a more sustainable waste management solution. Many of the solutions TFS provide, creates efficiencies for the customers of Recycling Alternative.

The successful applicant will manage and grow relationships with some of RA's largest corporate clients. You'll oversee their sites, support their sustainability goals, and find opportunities to expand RA's services within their organizations and across the market.

Main Duties

This role is approximately 75% account management and 25% sales and business development. You'll join our existing team, partnering with RA's key corporate clients to deliver excellent full-site waste management services, best-practices training, and engaging recycling programs, while helping grow our client portfolio.

Account Management (approx. 75%)

  • Provide top-notch customer service to designated clients, including handling day-to-day requests and communicating clearly both on and off site
  • Perform regular site visits to inspect what’s happening on the ground and make recommendations or changes as required
  • Work closely with RA's operations and logistics team, as well as RA's subcontractors at client sites
  • Meet regularly with clients to evaluate services and identify improvements to their waste and recycling programs
  • Tailor waste and recycling programs to meet customers' needs and goals
  • Train customers on new procedures and waste management equipment
  • Document client plans and progress
  • Verify and manage monthly billing for assigned clients

Sales & Business Development (approx. 25%)

  • Own contract renewals and expansion opportunities within your assigned portfolio, contributing to revenue retention and growth targets
  • Identify and present upsell and cross-sell opportunities, including Terraforma Systems equipment that improves client efficiency and diversion rates
  • Convert customer referrals, warm leads, and incoming inquiries, and proactively develop new business opportunities in target sectors
  • Prepare proposals and quotes, and work with the sales team to negotiate and close deals
  • Collaborate with the sales, operations, and sustainability teams to prepare and submit RFP responses and tender submissions 
  • Track opportunities and maintain an accurate pipeline in our CRM
  • Attend local networking and industry events to showcase Recycling Alternative's services, initiatives, and values, and to build relationships with prospective clients

Our Working Environment

We're a team of 80+ people across our two companies, including office and admin staff, drivers, warehouse staff, engineers, and fabricators/welders. We're all passionate about waste reduction and committed to sustainability in action. Our three offices are close to each other in the False Creek Flats, less than 1 km from downtown Vancouver. We're part of a growing community of circular businesses working together to foster innovation and inclusive jobs in Vancouver's green economy.

This position is based mainly at the Recycling Alternative office, with regular visits to customer sites. Some days you'll be hands-on in recycling; other days you'll be analyzing data, presenting reports, or pitching new solutions. You'll be part of a small team of account managers, a sustainability associate, and a customer service representative.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in B2B account management, with demonstrated success in sales, upselling, or business development
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Comfortable working with companies of all sizes and corporate stakeholders
  • Experience using a CRM to manage accounts and track opportunities
  • Familiarity with the recycling industry and emerging green technologies is an asset
  • Passion for sustainability and best environmental practices
  • Valid driver's licence required

Terms of Employment: Permanent, full time, weekdays. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required.

Benefits: Extended medical and dental after 6 months of full-time employment. Sustainable transportation allowance (bicycle or public transit) and cell phone allowance after a 3-month probation period.

Remuneration: $70,000, based on experience and qualifications.
