Hiring: Reconciliation Analyst

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Reconciliation Analyst collaborates closely with the Finance Manager to carry out a range of accounting responsibilities, including processing transactions, ensuring compliance, communicating with stakeholders, and conducting analyses, with a strong emphasis on reconciliations and report generation. This role is also responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders and partners in both Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

This full-time position reports to the Finance Manager and offers flexibility in its work arrangement. It can be performed fully remotely from anywhere in Canada, entirely in-person, or through a hybrid model based out of one of our regional offices in Port Rowan, ON; Sackville, NB; or Delta, BC. Occasional travel for team meetings within Canada may be required. The anticipated start date for this role is early to mid-February 2025.

TOTAL COMPENSATION

Birds Canada is proud to provide an outstanding Total Compensation Package, including a competitive starting salary and a 5% RRSP match after 12 months of service. Our primarily employer-funded extended benefits plan is designed to support your well-being and includes health and dental coverage, basic group life insurance, out-of-province travel insurance, vision care, AD&D, and both short- and long-term disability coverage.

Team members also enjoy generous time off, with 4 weeks of vacation per year to start, 12 personal health days, and additional paid holidays between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

STARTING SALARY: Compensation for this role starts at $49,231 annually commensurate with your previous experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Service & Stakeholder Support: Provide exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders, addressing inquiries related to expenditure processes, policies, vendor accounts, contracts, and general accounting matters.

Accounts Payable & Reconciliation: Manage day-to-day accounts payable operations, including processing invoices, credit notes, and expense claims, while ensuring timely and accurate monthly reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies.

Financial Reporting & Analysis: Support month-end close, prepare journal entries, assist in financial report preparation, perform analytical reviews, and manage large data sets to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls.

Process Improvement & Record Management: Maintain accurate electronic records of financial transactions, assist in implementing new accounting processes, recommend process improvements, and contribute to enhanced reporting and reconciliation efficiency.

Audit & Cross-Department Collaboration: Support annual audits by providing required documentation, collaborate with departments to gather financial data, communicate with partners to clarify financial details, and provide administrative assistance to finance leadership as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Post secondary accounting education such as CPA or accounting diploma.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in reporting and reconciliations, ideally within a not-for-profit environment.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including expertise in Excel, Word, and accounting software.
  • A strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Experience with Blackbaud applications, such as Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge, is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in French and/or Spanish is an asset.
